Portable reveals fear of arrest if celebrities speak against insecurity

Controversial singer Portable says Nigerian authorities would arrest him if he speaks up about the country's insecurity, despite British-Nigerian rapper Skepta's call for celebrities to demand justice. "They will arrest us if we speak up," Portable claimed in a video broadcast, adding that "this government is oppressing us" and some celebrities are "still being persecuted over our past remarks." The Zazu crooner argued Nigerians in the diaspora can safely criticize the government because "Nigerian government can't arrest them from abroad," but celebrities in Nigeria risk passport seizure if they speak out. "We need help, not just prayers," Portable stated, explaining his current focus is on making money and bettering his life rather than speaking about Nigeria's worsening economic hardship and security situation.
