Presidency dismisses opposition unity as 'sinking ground'
Special Adviser Sunday Dare says opposition parties are 'standing on the sinking ground' while President Tinubu remains 'solidly on the rock of competence.' The presidential spokesman made these comments on Sunday reacting to the Ibadan declaration where opposition parties agreed to field one presidential candidate in 2027. Dare characterized the summit as 'a collection of recycled politicians' who have served as ministers, governors, and political actors for years with 'little evidence of fresh thinking.' According to him, these individuals have 'nothing new to offer Nigerians' despite being free to field multiple candidates. The presidency emphasized that the government remains functional with 'measured outcomes' regardless of opposition strategies.
With both government and opposition positioning themselves for 2027, will voters see meaningful policy differences or more of the same approaches from recycled political actors?
