Primate Elijah Ayodele has criticized First Lady Remi Tinubu for failing to protest the abduction of Oyo school children, warning her actions could cost President Tinubu the 2027 elections. Speaking to women on Friday, the religious leader said Mrs. Tinubu does not behave like a mother should during such crises.

The cleric specifically compared her unfavorably to Jonathan's wife, stating Remi Tinubu never demanded the release of the abducted students. Instead, he noted she recently donated cars to women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in five opposition-controlled states during the inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers support group at the Abuja State House banquet hall.

Political analysts view this criticism as potentially damaging to the president's re-election prospects, with the religious leader directly linking the First Lady's political activities to perceived inaction on a national security crisis affecting families. This comes amid ongoing protests over the Oyo abduction that has become a political flashpoint.
