PRP leader calls on Tinubu to resign over national security failures
Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, national leader of Peoples Redemption Party and former Tinubu aide, challenged President Bola Tinubu to resign before the 2027 general elections due to escalating insecurity across Nigeria. Baba-Ahmed appeared on Arise Television's Morning Show on Thursday, stating that Tinubu has failed to protect citizens' lives and properties, with every part of Nigeria now vulnerable including schools where children are being kidnapped. 'In a civilized society, Tinubu's record on insecurity should have cost him his seat a long time ago,' Baba-Ahmed emphasized, adding that his call is not confrontational or partisan but based on the president's constitutional duty to protect citizens. He urged Nigerians to reject Tinubu in the 2027 election, asking whether more children need to be stolen before action is taken. This represents a significant political challenge from within Tinubu's former circle as the nation approaches the 2027 election cycle with security concerns remaining a top voter issue.
