PZ Cussons recorded N260.46 billion revenue for the first quarter of the 2027 financial year, a 10% rise from N59.014 billion in the same period of 2025. Cost of sales increased 5% to N45.06 billion, while gross profit grew 24% to N19.78 billion. Operating profit for Q1 2027 rose to N8.54 billion from N5.85 billion in the prior year, and profit before tax stood at N9.09 billion with profit after tax at N4.63 billion. The company noted that profit after tax was lower than last year’s figure because the prior period included N15.74 billion in non‑recurring gains, whereas this quarter had only N0.51 billion. Gross margin improved to approximately 30.5% from 26.9% a year earlier. Company Secretary Oghenekevwe Ogefere attributed the growth to a favourable mix of volume and pricing, the strength of the group’s brands, and continued focus on sustainable revenue growth and operational efficiency.

This performance signals that PZ Cussons is able to raise prices and maintain volume despite Nigeria’s challenging macro‑economic environment, reflecting strong brand equity and pricing power. For investors, the steady top‑line growth and improved margins suggest resilience in the consumer goods sector, which faces pressure from inflation and currency fluctuations. Employees and suppliers may benefit from the company’s continued investment in operations.

Given the current inflation and foreign exchange pressures in Nigeria, do you think PZ Cussons can sustain this double‑digit revenue growth, or will margin pressure force a slowdown in the next quarters?
