Popular rapper CDQ has claimed that the Nigerian music industry is controlled by powerful cabals and gangs. Speaking in a recent interview with content creator JBrandy, the 'Nowo Soke' crooner stated that it's difficult for artists who don't belong to any gang or cult group to thrive in the music industry. 'The music industry has turned to a game of belonging to a particular caucus, gang or cult before anyone could actually help you,' he said. CDQ added that artists who achieve success without associating with cabals should be grateful, and noted that those not belonging to particular groups might spend a lot of money without seeing returns. The rapper called on industry stakeholders to change the trend of associating gangsterism with music business. Is this exposure of alleged industry practices beneficial for transparency, or could it discourage aspiring artists?
