Nigerian superstar Rema will headline the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony on June 12 in Los Angeles. FIFA announced the lineup featuring Rema alongside LISA, Katy Perry, Tyla, Future, and Anitta for the tournament's opening event.

The official World Cup anthem "Dai Dai" by Burna Boy and Shakira drops on May 14, while the final on July 19 will feature Coldplay's Chris Martin curating a Super Bowl-style halftime show.

FIFA says the lineup "reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrancy of its many diasporas," highlighting how music brings people together across the country.

With Nigerian artists dominating both opening ceremony and official anthem, does this signal Nigeria's growing influence on global music infrastructure, or just smart curation for the American market?
