Rio Ferdinand: Arsenal are their own biggest enemy in title race
Former England defender Rio Ferdinand says Arsenal have themselves to blame for their Premier League title challenges. Speaking on his YouTube channel after Arsenal's 3-2 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, Ferdinand identified the Gunners' own mentality as the biggest obstacle. "The biggest hindrance or obstacle to Arsenal winning the league is Arsenal," he stated. "They're too tense, held back, and need a 'f*** off attitude' to win it." Ferdinand criticized Mikel Arteta's cautious approach, saying he's "played the whole season with the handbrake on" and prefers jabs over haymakers in tactics. He also questioned Bukayo Saka's recent form, noting a weakened chemistry with Martin Odegaard compared to 18 months ago. The loss at Emirates reduced Arsenal's lead to just four points at the top. Manchester United moved to fourth place, winning their last two matches after their derby victory over Manchester City. Ferdinand believes Arsenal must develop more confidence and freedom, like bringing Eberechi Eze into their system properly, to break free from tactical restrictions. "It's got to be more than that," he said of their current approach. "They seem too robotic." The question for Arsenal fans: does Ferdinand have a point about Arteta's caution costing them the title, or is this just post-defeat analysis?
