Rodri delays Real Madrid transfer decision until after 2026 World Cup
Manchester City midfielder Rodri has shut down immediate transfer talks, insisting he won't make any decisions about his future until after the 2026 World Cup. By the time the tournament in North America wraps up, the 29-year-old will have less than a year left on his current contract.
Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme recently identified the Spanish international as a major transfer target. However, speaking at a press conference on Monday from his team's training camp, Rodri made his priorities clear.
"Everything that concerns my future, I’ll wait until the end of the World Cup," Rodri stated. He acknowledged that while transfer rumors are normal when a player's contract is running down, he remains completely focused on the tournament. He even hinted that if the World Cup wasn't happening right now, things "might be different."
With his contract winding down, Rodri will be one of the most sought-after players on the market soon. Do you think a move to Real Madrid makes sense for him, or should he finish his prime years at Manchester City?
