Arise TV's Rufai Oseni criticized Nigeria Revenue Service Chairman Adedeji for highlighting fuel subsidy removal benefits without showing revenue Nigerians lost to inflation. According to DAILY POST, Adedeji claimed on Channels TV's Sunday Politics that subsidy would have consumed N53 trillion and pushed the naira to N3,500/dollar without Tinubu's intervention, while state allocations rose 530% to N4.5 trillion from N700 billion. Reacting on X Monday, Oseni demanded Adedeji balance his argument by revealing how much Nigerians lost to inflation, which stood at 15.91 percent in June 2026. "If the NRS chief says subsidy would have been over N50 trillion, can he also give us the revenue Nigerians lost to inflation? To balance the argument," Oseni wrote. This follows prior criticism of Adedeji for claiming Tinubu treks to work and eats once daily. The exchange underscores the ongoing debate over subsidy removal's true cost to citizens versus government-reported gains.
