Rummenigge backs Harry Kane to win 2026 Ballon d’Or, award announced Oct 26
Former Bayern Munich chairman Karl Heinz Rummenigge predicts England captain Harry Kane will win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, saying Kane’s goal tally and trophies give him an edge over the other 29 nominees. Rummenigge, the last Bayern player to claim the award, hopes Kane can end the club’s wait for another winner. The winner will be announced on October 26, 2026.
This matters to Nigerian football fans who follow the Premier League and international awards, as a Kane victory would mark the first Ballon d’Or for an English player since 2001 and could influence discussions about African players’ chances in future editions. It also highlights the ongoing debate about individual accolades versus team success in modern football.
Readers should note the announcement date and consider how Kane’s form at Bayern Munich and with England might evolve before the vote. If you follow the Ballon d’Or race, keep an eye on Kane’s performances in the Bundesliga and Champions League fixtures leading up to October 26.
