Russian drone strikes kill 2 in Ukraine as world leaders pressure Moscow
Russian drone strikes killed two people in Ukraine Sunday, including a minibus driver in Zaporizhzhia region (56) and another man in Dnipropetrovsk region (59). The attacks wounded a 35-year-old man and damaged infrastructure as Russia targeted Ukraine with 236 drones overnight, with 215 intercepted.
Russian forces also partially destroyed a spent nuclear fuel storage facility in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, though the building was empty and radiation levels remained normal. Ukrainian officials accused Russia of endangering nuclear facilities for the second time.
Diplomatically, Ukrainian President Zelensky will meet leaders of France, Germany and Britain Sunday as Ukraine recaptured more territory than it lost to Russian forces in May for the second straight month. Zelensky proposed a face-to-face meeting with Putin offering a 'full ceasefire,' which Putin rejected.
Russia's offensive has led to rising prices, tax hikes, two-decade-high borrowing costs, business shutdowns and labor shortages, with Putin claiming the economy has not collapsed but is at Eurozone growth levels.
With global oil markets affected by the conflict, how might Nigeria's economic strategy need to adapt to both the instability and potential opportunities?
