Sam Amadi: Tinubu sacked Egbetokun due to controversies and operational failures
Director of Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Dr. Sam Amadi, stated that President Tinubu dismissed Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun because he became a burden with too many controversies and operational shortcomings. Amadi explained that presidents retain the capacity to reimagine leadership, replacing officials who lack political anchor or value addition. He noted Egbetokun's tenure was marked by operational inefficiencies and controversies, making him a liability. The removal follows Tinubu's executive order on direct oil revenue remittance and follows the appointment of Tunji Disu as the new IGP. Amadi's analysis frames the sacking as part of a pattern where underperforming officials are replaced to improve governance effectiveness.
