Samsung released One UI 9 Beta 5 for the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra on August 12, 2026, delivering the August 2026 security patch (56 fixes) and bug‑fixes only. The update, about 1.1GB in size (firmware S94xBXXU4ZZH6), fixes issues such as Settings app freezes, camera widget black screen, misaligned Phone app bottom bar, blank recent files screen, missing 1×1 home screen shortcuts, flickering in Video/Photo Editor, occasional screen flickering, and Wi‑Fi connection errors. Rollout began in South Korea, India, and the UK, with expansion planned for Poland, Germany, and the US. Beta 4 came on July 14; the one‑month delay was attributed to extra quality checks. While the Z Fold 8/Flip 8 already run stable One UI 9, the S26 series remains in beta, and it is unclear whether Beta 5 is the final test before a stable release—leaks suggest a possible stable build by mid‑September, possibly alongside the Galaxy S26 FE launch. Older Galaxy models (S25, S24, etc.) have not yet received a public beta and will wait longer.

For Nigerian users, the beta is not yet available locally; if you are enrolled in the Samsung Members beta program elsewhere, consider backing up your phone via Smart Switch first, as beta software can cause data loss and sideloading APKs may not work properly. Reverting to stable later usually requires a full data wipe, so treat this as a one‑way step. Check for the update under Settings > Software update if you are already enrolled.

Given the risks and the lack of new features, will you install Beta 5 now for the security patches and bug fixes, wait for the stable release expected around mid‑September, or hold off until the update reaches Nigeria?
