Seriake Dickson, National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), declared on his verified X account that every vote will count in the 2027 general elections and that there will be no room for violence, intimidation, or the use of security forces and armed thugs against law‑abiding citizens. He emphasized that the people’s will is supreme and warned that anyone who thinks they can shoot, kill, maim, or fabricate results with the help of security agencies will be disappointed. Dickson recalled past successes against federal might and urged Nigerians to stay vigilant and ready to democratically resist intimidation, oppression, violence, inducements, and any attempt to undermine the popular will.

His statement comes amid growing opposition skepticism toward the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with rival parties accusing the body of bias and calling for transparent processes. By promising a peaceful contest and urging citizens to resist electoral malpractice, Dickson aims to boost public confidence and mobilize grassroots support for the NDC’s candidates.

Given Nigeria’s history of election‑related violence and disputed results, will you trust the promise of a peaceful 2027 vote and participate actively, or will past experiences keep you skeptical of the electoral process?
