Shearer backs Leeds to beat Man United in Sunday Premier League clash
Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has predicted Leeds United will defeat Manchester United in their Premier League match this Sunday, October 17, 2026, at Elland Road. Shearer said he has "no faith or confidence" in Man United after their poor start to the season—just two wins in nine matches across all competitions and a 2-0 Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid. He believes Leeds, despite losing to Arsenal last week, showed they can compete with top sides after taking a 1-0 lead before Arsenal made changes. Shearer expects Leeds to approach the game with belief, aiming to exploit the pressure on the Red Devils.
This prediction matters to Nigerian football fans who follow the Premier League, especially those involved in discussions, fantasy leagues, or betting, as it highlights the current volatility at Man United and the potential for an upset at Elland Road. Knowing Shearer’s reasoning helps fans assess whether to trust his view or look for other factors such as team news, recent form, or tactical matchups before forming their own opinion.
Will you side with Shearer’s expectation of a Leeds home win, or do you think Manchester United will bounce back and secure a victory on the road?
