Sid Seixeiro slams Ronaldo, claims he chases 1000 goals to outshine Messi

Canadian TV host Sid Seixeiro criticized Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese forward left the national team a few days ago, saying Ronaldo wants to score 1000 goals purely to surpass Lionel Messi and feed his ego. Seixeiro claimed Ronaldo believes he helps the team only by scoring, not by running, making runs, drawing defenders, or working hard. He added that Portuguese teammates do not respect him the way Argentina players respect Messi.

Why it matters: The comments reignite the Messi‑Ronaldo debate and show how personal milestones can overshadow team contributions—a discussion relevant to Nigerian fans who follow both legends and see how individual ambition affects team dynamics in football.

What you should know: Seixeiro argued that Messi is liked and respected within his squad, while Ronaldo allegedly lacks that camaraderie. He warned that chasing a thousand goals may reflect insecurity rather than leadership. Consider what drives elite athletes—legacy, statistics, or genuine team success—and whether Ronaldo’s pursuit of 1000 goals adds to his legacy or distracts from it.

Do you think Ronaldo’s goal hunt is about securing his place in history or proving he’s still better than Messi?
