Simi opens up on health struggles that delayed song release with Chike

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, known as Simi, has revealed severe health challenges that delayed the release of her song "Where You Dey" featuring Chike. In a personal statement on her X page on Friday, January 24, 2026, she explained she had planned to release the track last year after a viral snippet, but was physically unable due to sickness, nausea, and exhaustion.

Simi admitted she was unwell even during the snippet video shoot but pushed through to deliver her best. She praised Chike's professionalism, noting he came to her studio immediately after returning to town, unaware she was pregnant and struggling physically. Despite her dislike for mastering, she handled mixing and mastering herself due to the circumstances.

The singer expressed disappointment over missing the intended release date, especially as fans were eager for the song. She also noted the release addresses critics who claim she gave up her career for marriage. Simi confirmed the song's official release date is pending, but the collaboration with Chike is now confirmed as complete.
