The Great Ife Students' Union (SU) recently released a comprehensive update addressing pressing issues on campus, most notably the severe transportation crisis and security concerns. Students have been facing long queues and difficulties moving around campus. The Union explained that while 80 new vehicles (including CNG buses and electric tricycles) promised by the First Lady have been delivered, they are not yet fully operational due to delays in completing the necessary fueling and charging stations.

The Union also accused local "Town-Gboro" (shuttle) drivers of sabotaging the campus transportation system. According to the SU, these drivers reduced their operational fleet to below the approved 150 buses upon realizing a new, more sustainable transport system was about to be implemented. This sabotage has exacerbated the suffering of students, leading the Union to seek interim interventions during peak hours to ease the stress on their members.

Regarding security, the Union addressed reports of robbery incidents on campus. They reaffirmed that OAU remains generally safe but condemned any "cult-like behavior" or criminal activities. They urged students to be vigilant and raise alarms immediately if they witness suspicious activities. The update also touched on healthcare, clarifying issues regarding payments for medical gloves at the Health Centre, noting that the student health insurance (TISHIP) does not cover certain consumables.
