Two drone strikes in Sudan killed 28 civilians, including an infant, in Darfur and Kordofan regions. The attacks occurred on March 2, 2026, with one strike hitting Saraf Omra market (22 dead) and another targeting a truck on North Kordofan road (6 dead). UN reports drone casualties exceed 500 this year, warning of devastating impacts from high-tech weapons in populated areas. The conflict between RSF and army forces has killed tens of thousands since April 2023, displacing 11 million. UN envoy Pekka Haavisto began peace efforts this week amid fears of regional spillover into Chad.
