The Super Eagles of Nigeria hold their 26th position in the latest FIFA men's world ranking released on April 1, 2026. Éric Chelle's team played two friendly matches in March, securing a 2-1 victory over Iran but settling for a 2-2 draw against Jordan.

Nigeria stays the third-highest ranked African team, behind Morocco (8th globally) and Senegal (14th). Algeria and Egypt round out Africa's top five. Globally, France reclaimed the top spot from Spain.

These rankings come ahead of the 2026 World Cup, with the next FIFA ranking update scheduled for June 10. While the Super Eagles' position hasn't changed, the mixed March results suggest both progress and lingering challenges under new manager Chelle.

The Super Eagles, three-time African champions, have maintained their position among the world's top 30 teams. With Morocco and Senegal clearly ahead in African football, does this ranking accurately represent Nigeria's standing as a football nation, or is there still work to be done to close the gap with Africa's elite?
