Super Eagles to face Egypt in AFCON third-place match
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Egypt in the third-place match of the Africa Nations Cup on Saturday, after losing to Morocco in the semifinals. The team, led by Coach Eric Chelle, is seeking its ninth bronze medal in the tournament. Nigeria has won a record eight third-place matches in the AFCON, including in 2019, 2010, and 2004. The Super Eagles trained in Casablanca on Thursday to prepare for the match against Egypt, led by Mohammed Salah. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has urged the players to focus on securing bronze, despite the disappointment of not reaching the final. Business magnate Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu has pledged to fulfill his promise of $500,000 to the players and officials, despite the loss.
