Super Eagles to learn AFCON 2027 qualifiers opponents on May 19 draw
Nigeria's Super Eagles will discover their opponents for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, when CAF conducts the draw. The draw will place 48 teams—including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda—into 12 groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing to the final tournament.
CAF has already set the competition schedule: the opening match will be played on Saturday, 19 June 2027 and the final on Saturday, 17 July 2027, although the host nation for those matches has not yet been decided.
According to DAILY POST, the Super Eagles are projected to finish in third place at the AFCON 2025 finals hosted by Morocco, giving fans a benchmark for expectations heading into the next campaign.
Knowing the group composition early allows the team and supporters to plan travel, fixture preparation and potential friendly matches ahead of the qualifiers, which are expected to begin later in 2026.
Will you be following the draw live to see which rivals Nigeria faces, and how do you think the Eagles will fare against the projected group opponents?
