Super Falcons camp swells as Okoronkwo, Alozie, Kanu join ahead of WAFCON 2026
Esther Okoronkwo, Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu have joined the Super Falcons training camp in Casablanca, bringing the squad to 22 players as the team ramps up for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. Three more players – Gift Monday, Deborah Abiodun and Folashade Ijamilusi – are expected to arrive later today at the team's Marriott Hotel base. The Falcons began their final preparations last Monday and will travel to Rabat this weekend to play all their group matches. They open their title defence against Malawi's Scorchers at Al Madina Stadium on Tuesday, 28 July.
This influx of attacking talent gives the Falcons more options up front as they look to repeat their 2022 triumph. Fans can expect a stronger attacking threat early in the tournament, which could ease the pressure on the defence and midfield. Knowing the exact kick-off date and venue lets supporters plan their viewing or travel to Rabat if they wish to watch the opener live.
With the squad filling out and the opening match against Malawi set for 28 July, should you expect a confident start to the title defence, or do you think the team will need a few more games to find its rhythm before challenging for the trophy?
