Nigeria's Super Falcons will meet Cameroon in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 6 p.m. at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca. The winner advances to the semi-finals and earns automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. Nigeria, defending champions and the most successful team in WAFCON history, holds a strong edge: they have won nine of their 13 previous encounters with Cameroon, drawn three, and lost only once (in 2012). The Falcons have scored 33 goals in those matches compared to Cameroon’s six.

Cameroon arrive unbeaten in the tournament, having topped Group D with seven points, led by forward Marie Gisele Ngah Manga, who netted three of their four group-stage goals. They also boosted confidence with a 1-0 friendly win over Nigeria in Yaounde in February, though Nigeria replied with a 3-1 victory three days later.

For Nigeria, the path has been bumpier: a 3-2 loss to Malawi in their opener, followed by a 1-0 win over Zambia and a commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt. Star striker Asisat Oshoala has been pivotal, and the return of suspended defenders Oluwatosin Demehin and midfielder Jennifer Echegini adds depth.

Coach Justine Madugu says securing the World Cup ticket and retaining the WAFCON trophy are the team’s twin objectives.

Will you tune in to see if Nigeria can extend their dominance or if Cameroon will spring another upset?
