Supreme Court mandates NCMS upload for Sept-Dec 2026 hearing lawyers
The Supreme Court has directed lawyers with appeals and motions scheduled for hearing between September and December 2026 to upload all relevant court documents through the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS) at least 30 days before their hearing date. This mandatory directive, issued in a statement signed by Chief Registrar Kabir Akanbi, implements the electronic filing system unveiled by Chief Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun on July 1, 2026.
To comply, lawyers must: visit the Supreme Court website, click on 'Litigation,' select 'Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS),' click 'Download Documents,' access the list of appeals and motions fixed for hearing between September and December 2026, then upload the Record of Appeal, Briefs of Argument, pending Motions, and all other filed processes for their matters.
The system aims to modernize court operations, reduce reliance on paper-based processes, improve case tracking, and enhance efficiency, transparency, and access to justice at Nigeria's apex court. Non-compliance could delay case proceedings as the court moves to streamline its highest-level judicial operations through this digital case management platform.
