TCN arrests suspect after six towers vandalized on Yola-Jalingo line
TCN announced the arrest of a suspect after vandals removed critical bracing members from six transmission towers—T995, T998, T999, T1002, T1003, and T1004—along the Yola–Jalingo 330kV line. The damage was spotted on July 29, 2026 during a routine patrol, with about 130 tower components taken, leaving the structures structurally compromised. A joint TCN–Nigeria Police Force raid on July 30 in the host community led to the suspect’s arrest on August 1; investigators recovered some stolen parts and are pursuing other syndicate members.
The vandalism threatens the stability of Nigeria’s power grid, risking blackouts and undermining years of investment in electricity infrastructure.
