TCN foils substation vandalism attempt in Bauchi, recovers tower parts
Security operatives thwarted an attempted theft of transmission tower components at TCN's 330/132kV substation in Bauchi around 9:34 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026. Personnel on duty intercepted suspects allegedly removing tower angle irons from the facility, causing the suspects to flee upon detection.
TCN recovered 12 transmission tower angle irons, a heavy-duty metal measuring scale, and a white pickup truck believed used in the attempt. These items were handed over to the Railway Division Police Station in Bauchi for investigation. The company confirmed no transmission equipment was stolen or damaged, and no injuries occurred during the incident.
