TCN announced restoration of electricity to Rivers, Imo, Bayelsa after fixing Alaoji-Owerri 132kV transmission lines 1 and 2. The forced outage on Tuesday June 24, 2026 caused blackouts; lines were energized on Wednesday June 25 after repairs. Spokesperson Ndidi Mbah said the corridor is now fully operational, allowing PHEDC and EEDC to off-take full load.

The outage had disrupted households, businesses, hospitals, and schools across the three states. Restoration ends reliance on costly generators, reduces fuel expenses, and restores normal economic activity. For residents, it means lighting, refrigeration, and internet access return; for businesses, production resumes without interruption.

You should expect stable supply; monitor announcements from your Disco for any scheduled maintenance; consider reducing generator use to save fuel and maintenance costs; report any lingering issues to PHEDC (Rivers/Ahoada) or EEDC (Imo) or the relevant Bayelsa Disco. The Alaoji-Owerri corridor is now back online, minimizing risk of another immediate outage. Officials urge consumers to report any voltage fluctuations promptly to help maintain grid stability.
