Tiger Woods Charged with DUI After Florida Rollover Crash
Golf superstar Tiger Woods was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after a rollover car crash in Martin County, Florida, this past Friday. The 50-year-old, who was uninjured, showed signs of impairment but passed a breathalyzer test. He refused a urine analysis, leading to DUI and property damage charges. Sheriff John Budensiek said drug experts believed Woods was impaired by medication or drugs, but Florida law allows urine test refusal, so definitive results won't be available.
This incident occurs five years after Woods' serious 2021 car crash that caused severe leg injuries, and follows his 2017 DUI arrest. Woods has been battling injuries including Achilles rupture and back surgery, with his last PGA Tour event in July 2024. President Trump expressed sympathy, calling Woods a close friend.
Woods faces a minimum eight-hour jail detention under Florida DUI laws. The crash happened on a narrow two-lane road; Budensiek noted it 'could have been a lot worse' if oncoming traffic had been present. Woods' legal outcome remains pending.
