Timi Frank Challenges Tinubu Govt to Publish Trump Letter, Calls It Dubious
Former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary Timi Frank challenged President Bola Tinubu’s administration on July 23, 2026 to publish the full copy of the alleged endorsement letter from US President Donald Trump, saying the document circulating online lacks the White House seal and Trump’s signature and therefore appears dubious. Frank said the letter only commends Nigeria for partnering with the United States on counter‑terrorism and the persecution of Christians, and does not endorse Tinubu’s leadership, policies or re‑election bid. He noted the letter is dated July 6 but surfaced weeks later, arguing that a genuine presidential endorsement would have been publicised immediately. By celebrating the letter, the government is seeking legitimacy abroad; if it truly believed in its credibility it would not make such a fuss over a routine diplomatic note, he added. Frank reminded readers that Trump hosted former President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House during his first term, and suggested that if Tinubu believes Trump is impressed with his administration he should visit Trump and stand beside him so the world can hear his achievements directly. Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga had said Trump wrote to Tinubu commending the Federal Government’s efforts to tackle terrorism and the persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
