Tinubu Appoints Segun Aina As New JAMB Registrar
President Tinubu appoints Segun Aina as new JAMB Registrar, succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose tenure expires July 31, 2026. Aina, who will be 40 in July, becomes JAMB's youngest registrar and one of Nigeria's youngest Computer Engineering professors.
A Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Aina holds a BEng from University of Kent, MSc and PhD from Loughborough University, UK, and completed Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School. He began his career with JAMB during his National Youth Service.
With over 15 years' experience advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, Aina has consulted for NECO, NABTEB, and State Education Ministries on examination systems and digital process optimization. As a member of COREN, NSE, IEEE, and IET, he brings technical expertise to Nigeria's critical educational admission system.
What does this mean for Nigerian students preparing for university admissions? With Aina's background in digital infrastructure and examination reform, expect potential modernization of JAMB's systems - but will these changes actually improve the admission experience for millions of candidates nationwide?
