President Bola Tinubu has approved design and procurement for two major federal road projects in Nigeria's Southeast, announced July 15 following Anambra Governor Charles Soludo's submission of priority projects on July 3. The projects include the 108-kilometre dualisation of Otuocha-Anam-Abaji (Kogi) Road and the 150-kilometre Oba-Nnewi-Uga-Ihube (Okigwe Junction) Road connecting Anambra and Imo states to the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway through Abia State.

Soludo praised the approvals as 'critical game-changers' for Southeast, South-South and North-Central regions, describing them as healing steps for civil war effects. He noted the approvals reflect Tinubu's commitment to reconstructing the Southeast after their July 1 meeting and discussions with Works Minister Dave Umahi.

These infrastructure projects could significantly improve regional connectivity and economic activity. The Governor emphasized collaboration between federal and state governments in delivering tangible development. No specific timelines for construction commencement or costs were disclosed in the announcement.

Will improved interstate road connectivity change your business or travel patterns in the Southeast?
