President Bola Tinubu congratulated the winners of legislative by-elections held Saturday in Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta states, saying the victories reflect Nigerians’ confidence in the APC’s capacity to govern and deliver shared prosperity. The All Progressives Congress secured four of the five contested seats, while the Allied Peoples Movement won the remaining seat in Bauchi State.

The successful APC candidates are Kallamu MaiJama’a, who won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe; Husseini Datti, Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano; Okolosi Ator, Udu State Constituency in Delta; and Yakubu Ali, Disina State Constituency in Bauchi. Adamu Yakubu of the APM claimed the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi.

Tinubu, through spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in supporting the APC and not be swayed by political opportunism, stressing that the benefits of ongoing reforms will become more evident as the administration enters its next phase. He called on the winners to justify their constituents’ confidence through diligent representation and urged INEC to build on the peaceful conduct of these polls and address shortcomings ahead of the general elections slated for January and February 2027.

What does this mean for you? The results reinforce the APC’s dominance in these regions ahead of 2027, potentially shaping local governance and policy implementation. Will you monitor how these newly elected officials deliver on campaign promises, or consider the implications for your community’s representation and the coming national elections?
