President Bola Tinubu announced that the emergency phase of Nigeria’s economic reforms is over, declaring the country at a turning point after three years of difficult adjustments. He said the reforms were introduced to fix long‑standing economic distortions, not to cause the hardships Nigerians have faced, likening the situation to a cancer patient needing painful treatment to survive. Tinubu cited signs of greater stability: economic growth exceeding four percent, lower inflation, higher foreign reserves, a more stable foreign‑exchange market, and non‑oil exports that generated more than $6 billion in 2025. He acknowledged the reforms created real difficulties but warned that abandoning them would erase the progress made. The President urged Nigerians to back the next phase of the government’s economic programme, which will prioritize jobs, enterprise, industrial production and lower living costs. With the focus shifting to jobs and lower living costs, what specific changes would you like to see in your community?
