Tinubu dissolves PIC, assigns property oversight to AG Fagbemi effective Nov 5, 2025
President Bola Tinubu has dissolved the Presidential Implementation Committee on Federal Government Properties Alienation, effective November 5, 2025. The committee, established in 2000 under Obasanjo to oversee federal property privatization, sale and lease, is being terminated after exceeding its mandate and triggering nationwide litigation. Henceforth, all federal property transaction matters will be coordinated by Attorney General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi. The former PIC Secretary, B.S. Dutsin-Ma, has been directed to cease all committee-related activities immediately. This change affects nationwide federal asset transactions including sales, leases and privatization deals. Individuals and entities currently engaged in federal property dealings should now direct inquiries to the Attorney General's office rather than the defunct PIC. The dissolution aims to resolve legal complications stemming from the committee's overextended mandate while maintaining oversight of federal asset management through the proper constitutional channel.
