Tinubu launches 21 shared MSME facilities across 19 states, supporting 650k jobs
President Bola Tinubu announced that 21 shared facilities spread across 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory are now operational under the Federal Government's National MSME Clinics initiative, supporting an estimated 650,000 jobs. The facilities provide entrepreneurs with access to equipment, electricity and production infrastructure without requiring them to bear the full cost of setting up such infrastructure themselves. Tinubu said the initiative targets micro, small and medium enterprises that have the skills and ideas to expand but struggle to afford machinery or factory space, citing tailors and food processors as examples that could scale production using the shared hubs. He added that when small businesses can produce more at lower cost, they become more competitive, grow, employ more people and create income and opportunity for Nigerian families. The announcement comes as the government expands other MSME support programmes, including the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and the National Credit Guarantee Company (NCGC), which has backed loans worth ₦46.95 billion in its first year. Tinubu stressed that the administration's focus is on removing barriers that prevent entrepreneurs from turning skills and ideas into sustainable businesses, adding that strengthening small enterprises helps build prosperity from the ground up. For MSME owners looking to access equipment without large upfront investment, the National MSME Clinics offer a pathway—details on eligibility, locations and application procedures can be obtained through SMEDAN offices or the initiative's online portal.
