President Bola Tinubu arrived in Lagos Thursday evening after a condolence visit to Plateau State, where he met families affected by the Angwan Rukuba attack and directed security agencies to track down perpetrators. He assured residents of government commitment to restoring peace.

In Lagos, Tinubu will inaugurate several infrastructure projects executed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration. These include the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge (expected to ease traffic congestion), the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, a Multi-Agency Complex named after the president, and a newly completed school complex.

On Saturday, he travels to Ogun State to open the Gateway International Cargo Airport and two commercial aircraft for export/import operations to boost trade. He will also inaugurate the new headquarters of the Federal Operations Unit of Nigeria Customs and unveil a fleet of operational vehicles.

Tinubu returns to Lagos for the Easter holiday before proceeding to Bayelsa on April 10 to inaugurate Governor Douye Diri’s projects, then returns to Abuja.

Why it matters: The Plateau visit addresses urgent security concerns after deadly attacks, while the project inaugurations highlight development priorities. For Lagos commuters, the Ojota/Opebi Bridge may reduce congestion if operational soon. The Ogun cargo airport could enhance regional trade logistics.

What to know: Monitor Plateau for actual arrests following the president’s directive. In Lagos, confirm the bridge’s opening date and exact route impact. In Ogun, understand the cargo airport’s capacity and job opportunities.

Should presidential efforts prioritize immediate security interventions over symbolic project launches? How will these infrastructure changes affect your commute or business operations?
