Troops foil terror raid, rescue 21 female students, kidnap victims in Northeast
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI foiled a terrorist infiltration attempt at Forward Operating Base Logomani in Borno State after detecting ISWAP/JAS militants via CCTV. The troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to withdraw before they could breach the base. Acting on separate intelligence, soldiers evacuated 21 female students from lodgings near the Water Board IDP Camp in Monguno to Kinnasara Barracks; three students who suffered seizures during the move were stabilized at a hospital and local security was reinforced. In another operation, troops apprehended a suspected cross‑border kidnapper operating between Nigeria and Cameroon.
Separate actions across the Northeast and North Central yielded further results: the 115 Task Force Battalion and local hunters engaged terrorists at Surajo village in Askira Uba LGA, Borno, forcing the militants to flee and abandon three bicycles and two coolers. The 247 Reconnaissance Battalion and local hunters arrested a suspected kidnapper in Gaya, Mubi South LGA, Adamawa; the suspect confessed to belonging to a kidnapping syndicate based in Cameroon’s Solere Forest. Operation MESA, working with police and vigilantes, rescued a kidnap victim along the Koton Karfe–Okparake Road in Kogi, recovering a Dane gun, a motorcycle, three mobile phones and ₦23,000. In Kebbi, Operation FANSAN YAMMA forced terrorists to flee the Wasagu‑Ayu Road, leaving behind two motorcycles.
These operations underscore the persistent threat of insurgency and kidnapping while demonstrating the military’s ability to disrupt attacks, rescue civilians and seize illicit arms and funds.
