According to sources, the troops reinforced the vigilantes, a move that forced the attackers to withdraw into the surrounding bush. A security source stressed that during subsequent exploitation of the area, the troops discovered that two villagers had been killed during the exchange of fire. “Troops maintained a sustained presence in the area and continued aggressive patrols aimed at denying the terrorists freedom of movement and preventing further attacks,” Makama said.
