News Troops kill eight suspected terrorists in Borno ambush Published on April 2, 2026 By Nana Ismail Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force and other hybrid forces, have killed eight suspected terrorists during an ambush in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. A military source told Zagazola Makama that the operation took place around 2:06 am on April 1 near the Gadangari area, behind Government Girls Secondary School in Bama. According to the source, the troops had laid a planned ambush targeting suspected Boko Haram members and their logistics suppliers operating in the area. “While lying in wait, the troops intercepted terrorists’ collaborators and logistics suppliers moving towards Yale axis,” the source said. The source added that a brief exchange of gunfire followed, leading to the killing of eight of the suspects, while others fled the scene, some believed to have sustained gunshot wounds. He also noted that follow-up operations are ongoing to track down those who escaped and disrupt their supply networks. “The situation remains under control, with troops maintaining aggressive posture in the general area,” the source added.
