The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama. During the chase, one of the suspects reportedly fled on sighting the troops, abandoning his motorcycle. Security sources said the area was later cordoned off and searched. During the operation, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-49 rifle, the abandoned motorcycle, and other items. In a follow-up operation back in Gidan Waya, the troops arrested a suspect identified as Ahmed Musa, who was linked to the earlier attack. “The suspect and the recovered items are currently in military custody, while investigations are ongoing,” Makama wrote. Efforts are also being intensified to track down other members of the group who escaped, as security operations continue in the area.
