Troops neutralise terrorists, seize ammo in Zamfara, Kaduna ops
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA neutralised terrorists and intercepted ammunition couriers in Zamfara and Kaduna on September 2, 2026. In Zamfara's Shinkafi and Zurmi LGAs, Sector 2 ambushed militants at Kwanar Jolof, killing several and recovering an RPG launcher, an RPG bomb, an AK-47 rifle, six AK-47 magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle. In Kaduna, Sector 1 stopped a vehicle on the Saulawa-Zaria Road; a passenger fled after being asked to open his bag, was pursued and neutralised, and 793 rounds of ammo concealed in gari were found. The vehicle and driver are now in military custody.
These strikes dismantle terrorist supply chains, lowering the risk of attacks on civilians and curbing the flow of illicit arms across the Northwest. The seizure of an RPG system underscores the scale of weapons moving through the region, which could escalate violence if left unchecked.
People living in Zamfara, Kaduna and adjoining areas should remain vigilant, report any suspicious vehicles or individuals to security forces, and consider avoiding non-essential travel along known hotspot routes such as the Saulawa-Zaria Road until regular patrols signal the area is clear.
