Metro Troops recover body of missing herder, 32 cattle in Plateau operation Published on April 15, 2026 By Hadiza Musa Troops under Operation Safe Haven, working with local vigilantes, have recovered the body of a missing herder along with 32 cattle during a search-and-rescue operation in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The development was contained in a post shared on X on Wednesday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama. According to Makama, the operation followed a report of the herder’s disappearance in Ariri and Kwasha communities on April 13. Security personnel launched a coordinated search in the affected areas, which led to the recovery of the herder’s lifeless body. In the same operation, 32 cattle were found alive, while three others were discovered dead. The recovered remains and livestock were later handed over to leaders of the herding community for further action, while security patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further incidents and maintain calm.
