Trump warns Netanyahu not to strike Iran, says Israel could face Tehran alone soon
Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Israel’s Channel 12 on Monday, June 8, 2026, that Israel could be left alone against Iran if it continues strikes. The warning came after Israel and Iran exchanged fire since an April ceasefire. Trump said, ‘you’d better be careful what you do, because you could be left alone against Iran very soon.’ He had also urged Netanyahu on Sunday to avoid retaliating for Iran’s recent missile attack. Channel 12 reported that the Monday conversation ended without a clear agreement, and Netanyahu did not reveal his final decision. Later, Netanyahu consulted with defence chiefs and informed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that he had decided to attack Iran.
For Nigerians, an escalation could push global oil prices higher, affecting fuel costs, inflation, and foreign exchange earnings from crude exports. Higher pump prices would raise transport and living costs, while oil revenue volatility could impact government budgets and the naira.
