Metro Twelve victims escape Boko Haram captivity in Borno Published on April 23, 2026 By Vanessa Onah Twelve people abducted by Boko Haram from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State have escaped from captivity and reached safety. According to Daily Trust, a source from Pulka said the victims, 10 men and two women, escaped during a period of military activity in the area that forced the insurgents to abandon some of the captives. “One of the victims told us that there were military operations in the area which forced the insurgents to abandon some of them and escape with the majority of the captives,” he said. A statement by the Borno South Youth Alliance confirmed the development, noting that the escape happened on Wednesday “They are now safe in a nearby town,” the statement said. The escapees were identified as Aisha Audu, 20, Hajara Audu, 18 months, Aisha Idrisa, 17, Hafsat Idrisa four months, Aisha Abubakar Bama, 22, Maryam Umar, 11 months, Zainabu Umar Mbasuwa, 22, Salma Abubakar, 2 months, Musa Umar, seven, Suleiman Umar, nine, Aisha Abubakar, 17 and Aisha Musa, 10.
