News Two killed, scores injured, houses burnt as bandits unleash violence on another Plateau community Published on April 6, 2026 By Lekkyez Auta At least two persons have been reportedly killed with scores of others injured, while houses and food barns were burnt down by suspected Fulani bandits who unleashed violence on the Pwomol village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on the night of Sunday, April 5th. National President of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, BYM, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, who confirmed the incident in a post he shared on social media shortly after the attack, said the terrorists, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community around midnight and started shooting sporadically, killing two youths in the process while also injuring many others while trying to escape into nearby bushes. Mwantiri said the invasion of the community was the second of such within one week by the bandits who also took time to burn down houses and food barns. The BYM President also stated that one of the attackers who gave his identity simply as Suleiman, a Fulani man from the Fass community in Riyom Local Government Area, was apprehended and had been handed over to security operatives. According to Mwantiri, the suspect was arrested around the Redemption Camp area between Heipang and Kassa, with blood stains reportedly found on his body and is currently in the custody of security operatives at Sector 4 in Barkin Ladi LGA. He further called on security agencies to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into the attack and ensure that the arrested suspect is brought to justice without delay. The BYM President demanded that that the suspect be made to provide useful information that will lead to the arrest of other perpetrators and collaborators involved in the attack. “BYM commends the immediate intervention of the Special Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, and urges residents of the area to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities within their communities,” he added.
