Metro Two pilgrims die in Kano road accident Published on April 21, 2026 By Kabeer Bello The Pilgrims Welfare Board in Kano State has expressed grief over the death of two intending pilgrims who lost their lives in a tragic road accident. The victims were identified as Alkasim Ibrahim Walawa, 48, and his mother, Hajiya Hadiza Garba, 73. The incident occurred along the Rimin Gado road leading into Kano, where both victims reportedly died on the spot. Family sources said Alkasim is survived by two wives and seven children, while Hajiya Hadiza left behind five children. Both victims were natives of Walawa village in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State. The board described the incident as deeply painful, noting that the deceased were on their way to undertake the sacred pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. In a condolence message signed by its spokesperson, Alhaji Suleiman A. Dederi, the board prayed for forgiveness for the deceased and for their admission into Aljannatul Firdaus. “We are deeply saddened by this loss. We pray that Almighty Allah forgives their shortcomings and grants them eternal rest, while giving their families the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement read. The board also extended its condolences to the bereaved families, praying for patience and resilience during this period of mourning.
