Metro Two UNIJOS students killed, three injured in Plateau attacks Published on April 9, 2026 By Hafsat Bello The University of Jos has confirmed the killing of two of its students following recent attacks in Angwan Kukuba community of Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State. Vice-Chancellor Tanko Ishaya disclosed this on Thursday while briefing journalists on the impact of the violence on the university community. He said five members of the institution were affected, comprising four students and one staff member. According to him, the deceased students were identified as Abel Joro Gershon, a 300-level Building student, and Adeyomo Oluwafemi Temitope, a 500-level Quantity Surveying student. Gershon was reportedly shot in the stomach during the Angwan Rukuba attack and later died on April 5 at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, while Temitope was shot dead on April 1 outside the campus along Bauchi Road. The Vice-Chancellor noted that three other injured victims are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Prof Ishaya, on behalf of the university community, extended condolences to the families of the deceased and residents of Angwan Rukuba. He stated that normal academic activities had resumed across the institution’s campuses on Tuesday, adding that security measures have been significantly reinforced.
