US Imposes 10% Tariff on EU Countries Over Greenland Dispute
President Donald Trump has imposed a 10% tariff on goods from key European countries, including the UK, Denmark, France, and Germany, due to their resistance to the US acquisition of Greenland. The tariff will take effect on February 1st, 2026, and will rise to 25% by June 1st, 2026, remaining in place until the US acquisition of Greenland is finalized. Mr Trump claims the acquisition is necessary for US national security interests and to counter China and Russia's alleged interest in the island.
